Dear British person: this is YOUR pension that is vanishing.
Brexit is bad for you.
Today, the markets took a downward turn. It wasn’t in reaction to a terrorist attack or the threat of a war, but due to the Leave campaign taking the lead in the polls.
This isn’t a conspiracy, this isn’t a part of Project Fear, these are real investors taking their very real money elsewhere because they’re worried that next Thursday BritainĀ will make one of the biggest diplomatic mistakes in centuries. If you are British, don’t ignore the facts next Thursday – vote to remain a part of the European Union.
Meanwhile markets all over the world are nosediving at the prospect. Real people, losing real money.
So for the sake of money, weāll continue to fuck England shall we? LEAVE now before itās too late. (Actually itās too late already but you know my thoughts on thatā¦)

Your point is that the EU results in unfettered immigration to the UK, which you dislike. Except it doesn’t. Britain actually has quite low immigration standards by comparison with the rest of the world. In 2005, the foreign-born population was estimated at 9.1 per cent, compared to a European Union average of 8.6 per cent, a barely relevant difference. In 2011, there were 7.5 million foreign-born residents in the UK, corresponding to 11.9 per cent of the total population. This was substantially less than that of major countries such as Australia (23 per cent), Canada (19.3 per cent) and the USA (12.3 per cent).
So to put it another way, for every person in the UK who has come from another country (including former Commonwealth countries like Pakistan and India) there are 9 that were born in the UK. FACT.

Oh by the way: in case you’re worried about homogeneity of the population – “too many Muslims” in blunt speak – Islam is the second largest religion with results from the United Kingdom Census 2011 giving the UK Muslim population in 2011 as 2,706,066, or 4.5% of the total population. The vast majority of Muslims in the United Kingdom live in England: 2,660,116 (5.02% of the population). 76,737 Muslims live in Scotland (1.45%), 45,950 in Wales (1.50%), and 3,832 in Northern Ireland (0.21%).
In 2011 it was reported that the United Kingdom had around 100,000 converts to Islam, of which 66% were women. There were an estimated 5,200 conversions to Islam in 2011. Islam is the second fastest growing religious confession in the UK after irreligion and its adherents have the lowest average age out of all the major religious groups. Between 2001 and 2009 the Muslim population increased almost 10 times faster than the non-Muslim population. The majority of Muslims in United Kingdom belong to the Sunni denomination,[11] while smaller numbers are Shia and Ahmadi. Ethnically, the largest groups of British Muslims are Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. Smaller groups are Indians, Arabs and Africans. So if you’re worried about the number of Muslims in the UK, you should focus your attention on persuading young women not to join their faith.
That’s up to you. I am completely happy with Muslims. I live next to Muslims. They’re charming.

I already have so voted – postal vote – but have had to depend on my postman taking my vote and posting it for me as I am ill, disabled and housebound. I wish I could get to a polling station myself as I always worry about these things.
Even if no-one ever thought about anything else, the UK has around a 64 million population, compared to around 7.5 billion world population – that makes us a very VERY small trade negotiating group compared to the rest of the world. It surely makes sense to remain part of the EU, as you have the trade negotiating ‘muscle’ of being part of such a large group – never mind all the wonderful things that the EU has done – maternity leave being just one of many (it is very early here).
Even if you ignore the many evidences of European funding all over these islands – in the North and the West, such as Ireland, Scotland including Orkney and Wales – which most of England doesn’t seem to care too much about – there are quays and piers all over the place which have been restored to a functional condition (helping the locals fish and trade) entirely because of the EU – London doesn’t seem to give a fig!
I hope and pray that we vote to stay in the EU – it will be utter insanity for us to be outside.

I completely agree, Pat. Leaving the EU would be wilful economic suicide.

Yolly, utterly excellent replies on the subject of immigration! I would further suggest that any immigrants to any country would tend to have amongst them the highest proportions of population of entrepreneurs, of people with determination to succeed, to benefit their new home and themselves, to really improve things for everyone. They are the ones who have had the courage to up sticks and move across the world to do so – that takes guts.

Quite correct, Pat, and there is oodles of research that shows that to be the case.
