This is what a bigot looks like.

A North Carolina pastor has launched a shocking homophobic rant, calling on gays and lesbians to be put in an electrified pen and left to die.

The pastor has been identified as Charles L. Worley of the Providence Road Baptist Church in Maiden, North Carolina, with the sermon believed to have been filmed on May 13.

A disgrace. How is this not hate crime?

You are an idiot, Mr Worley. You don’t even know your theology. As I explain clearly here: https://wellthisiswhatithink.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/why-is-the-church-anti-gay-if-the-bible-isnt/

In my humble opinion, this man is going straight to Hell, and good riddance, assuming it exists.

These views are evil, evil, evil. This man does not speak for me, or any Christian I know. On behalf of Jesus Christ, I apologise to every gay, lesbian and transgendered person on the planet. And yes, I have that right. Read your Bible …

Clearly his ‘final solution’ is unacceptable to most people. But I support his right to say it and the right of others to be offended by it, without resorting to Govt PC Bullshit about who can say what and when and to whom. Two things that are killing Society now are Political Correctness, with harpy, sandal-wearing Diversity Co-Ordinators passing everything that can and can’t be said together with ‘Health & Safety’ Legislation which has gone way too far.

As to whether Jesus is in favour of homosexuals or not, we shall all have to wait and see. Despite what particular translation of the Bible you use and what it does or doesn’t say when spun around, in my Spirit I feel he will not be happy with their lifestyle.

    • I respect your right to believe “in your Spirit” whatever you like, although I would argue fiercely that you should allow Bible scholarship to overcome mere instinct. But this man is guilty of naked and deliberate hate crime, which he has the gall to preach from God’s pulpit, and that is not some minor infarction. It is a disgrace, and when he plays on the ignorance of fools who then go out and discriminate, batter or murder on the basis of people’s sexuality he is not different to lunatic Muslim Imams who we lock up – or try to – for doing exactly the same thing – inciting hatred. And no, in my book you cannot support his right to say it under some suprious free speech defence. It’s got fuck all to do with political correctness. He is advocating mass incarceration and murder on the basis of what people want to do with their genitalia. He’s a Nazi. Nazis get opposed. Get a grip, Richard.

  2. We all have our crosses to bear (tongue in cheek) this man and others like him are Christianities Cross to bear. I saw this yesterday and posted on my FB page. The amazing thing to me is more people aren’t outraged by statements like this made from the pulpit.

    • Plenty of Christians are outraged by it. Christ will be outraged by it, too.

LOL, I think I am on safer ground defending free speech than you are by saying what Christ would be offended by. I would leave it to the natural process of offence and ridicule to deal with things like this. I know you liberals desperately want to make laws for everything but things like this just need to be laughed down. I can’t see a great movement of gay bashing starting because of a nutball like this.

Yeah, and if one referee was attacked cos the abuse we hurl at him on a Saturday; if one journo was attacked for writing an article somebody disagreed with; if one businessman was attacked cos of a decision he made. Tell you what, let’s no do or say anything – that would be a liberal’s wet dream, wouldn’t it.

            • Ridiculous analogy … Why can’t we simply treat people courteously? You know, like, um, Jesus would? Why does your view of free speech equate to the freedom to abuse people? Are you really that angry?

If I am angry at anything, it is the pathetic, restrictive laws that this country is being swamped with. And only ‘ridiculous’ in your opinion – thank God others think like me. I think you spout some utter tripe sometimes but I don’t resort to insults – but I was never brought up in a left wing Party.

                • You become ever more strident in defense of the indefensible. Free speech is not absolute. It is as simple as that. I am not free to defame you, even in your libetarian utopia. I simply say I should not be able to abuse you. I am, however, perfectly entitled to ridicule your views without inviting an accusation that I am somehow being insulting. I am no more entitled to argue that you should be burned at the stake for believing in Christianity than I am entitled to cave in your head with a sword for not doing so.

And the sooner we get the Church out from between people’s loins and into looking after the poor, the weak, the dispossesed, and the downtrodden, the better the Church will be, and the better the world will be.

It’s a pity you don’t extend that right of disagreement and ridicule to people who hold contrary views to you.

                    • I never ridicule people I disagree with, let alone someone of your sincerity and intellect. I have gone to some lengths to stress that I respect your right to hold your opinions – I, however, reserve, and always will reserve, the right to be as trenchant as I like in disputing your opinions.

I respect that your point of view is intellectually consistent with everything you have ever said. I merely argue it is intellectually incoherent. I repeat, freedom of speech is not absolute. This man crossed the line of what is acceptable in a free, liberal society. The problem with using sarcasm and irony to contest crazy ideas is that the crazies concerned do not recognise our impeccable intellectual liberal regard for free speech. They have no interest in it, and would not extend us the same privileges as they take every inch we yield to their lunacies and bigotry, and cut our heads off and stick them on poles – or cram us into gas chambers if that’s more efficient.

  3. Monique Ensign says:

As a born-again believing Christian, I do take the Bible as God’s full and final word and do the best to live by it . . .. though I’m FAR from perfect. I agree w/what His Word says in that the homosexual lifestyle is sinful, along with so many other things humans do and live. However, the way this pastor presented himself, Christianity and God is SO wrong and shameful. To say that we should separate the gays w/an electronic fence, fly food down to them and just let them die off is utterly contemptable. Jesus our Lord is in the business of saving sinners, such as myself and all who live. We are to hate the sin BUT love the sinner and treat them w/the love of Chirst telling them the truth of God’s Word in love, not in a hateful mean bigoted nature/spirit. Jesus came to die for ALL people for ALL are sinners. No man can get into heaven’s gates unless we go through Him. I did not say it, He did (John 3:16) and so do all the prophets before and apostles after Him. So, my point is, all people are sinners in need of God’s love grace and forgiveness. We are to treat them as we would want to be treated. Of course, each person has the right to make his or her mind up if they are going to accept and follow the Lord or not. That is up to them and they will answer to Him one day asl we all will, saved and un-saved. Instead of Christians being mean spirited to those who are different and don’t believe and live the way we do, let’s be loving and kind so they will see the love of Christ in us and be drawn to it. We are all God’s creation, Christian and Non-Christian. He loves us all and desires all to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth. We are to be Christ’s light in the world so people will be drawn to Him. When we act mean spirited and ibigoted it does nothing more than to push those Christ wants to draw near Him away.
